How long does oxidation removal take?

For a mid-size vessel with moderate oxidation, the process typically takes one to two days, including preparation and final sealant application. Severe or large-area oxidation can take longer. We provide a time estimate after the initial surface assessment.

Will the oxidation come back after treatment?

Yes, eventually UV exposure and salt are constant in Florida. The rate at which oxidation returns is determined by the protective product applied after compounding and how consistently it is maintained. A quality polymer sealant slows re-oxidation significantly. Regular wax or sealant applications are what keep the correction lasting.

Is oxidation removal the same as polishing?

Oxidation removal uses a compound, a more aggressive abrasive than a polish, to cut through the degraded surface layer. Polishing follows compounding to refine the surface and restore gloss. Both steps are part of our oxidation removal service, not interchangeable treatments.

How do I know if my hull needs compounding or just polishing?

If the surface is chalky, powdery, or has lost its color depth and does not improve with a wax application, it needs compounding. If the surface has reasonable clarity but lacks gloss and sharpness, polishing alone may be sufficient. We assess and recommend the correct approach at no cost before any work begins.
